Ok, so it's actually been done for about a week now, but I just haven't gotten around to posting any pictures. Here it is.

New PC

Lately I've been obsessing about getting a new PC, and I've decided that I'm going to build it myself. The most I've even done to a PC's hardware before is replace the RAM, so this is quite a bit of an undertaking, but I'm fairly confident I can pull it off.Mu budget was originally $1500, but I've bumped it up to $1600 after working out all of the components I want and deciding what I can and can't live without. It looks like it's going to be a pretty decent machine. You can see all the specifics here, but it basically breaks down like this:Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processorGeForce 8800 GTS video card with 320 MB RAM2 GB DDR2 800 MHz of system RAM250 GB hard drive20X DVD Burner19" Dell widescreen monitorWindows Vista Home Premium 64 OEM versionOf course, not everything is going so smoothly. In order to help finance this I was going to sell my laptop to my girlfriend, but the hard drive crashed a couple of days ago. A new one is in the mail but it set me back $75 in my budget for the new system. Hopefully once I get it installed everything will be fine though.I also need to wait until Intel drops their prices in July. The waiting is killing me though.Update #1: So yesterday I found a killer deal on a BFG GeForce 8800 640 GTS OC2 that I just couldn't pass up. It put me over budget on some of the other components though, so I'll have to do some skimming.Update #2: Ok, I decided to forgo the 2.4GHz processor and instead went with the cheapest Core 2 Duo on the market (the 1.8GHz E4300) and bought a high end cooler so that I can overclock it. I don't know much about overclocking, but I think I can get somewhere between 2.6GHz and 2.8GHz out of it fairly easily. In the end, the final price was just shy of $1460, before taxes and shipping. Almost done with finals

Finals week is almost over. My econometrics final didn't go so well, but I have a chance to supplement part of the grade with a take home test which I will be working on this afternoon. Math Econ, on the other hand, went very well; which was surprising because it was, by far, the harder course. I ended up with a B+ in the class, which is much better than I had been expecting.

What's going on with the site

I've been doing a lot of stuff with the site today, so let me explain what's going on. I've taken on too many writing responsibilities. In addition to this blog and my other blog, The Economics of Game, I'm also now writing on Evil Avatar Analysts as well as contributing to Techdirt's Insight Community. So, as of today, I'm killing off Economics of Game and combining it with this blog. The focus of this blog will remain the same, but you might see one or two posts show up here that would have gone on Economics of Game in the past. Hopefully, this will allow me to post here more frequently in the future.
